南アの元大統領ネルソン・マンデラが肺の感染症でプレトリアの病院に入院中とのニュース。
今年の二月に入院したときは、胃の慢性的な病気だったが、小さな手術で回復し退院していた。
現在、94才でだんだんと弱くなっている。今までの入院とことなり今回は少し症状が重いらしい。
数年まえに完全引退してからは公的な場に出たのは、2010年のワールドカップの時が最後だった。
今年の8月にはクリントン国務長官が自宅を訪問した。その時は車椅子姿の写真が公開されている。この時も弱まっている様子が見て取れた。
